Give a speech
Many people hate public speaking. In fact, in survey after survey of what frightens people most, public speaking is at the top of the list and dying – actual death! – is a couple of places below. In other words, people would rather die than stand up and give a speech!
However, there are many organizations and network groups looking for qualified, subject-matter experts who can present to their groups.
Not, to be clear, someone who will drone on and on about the latest developments in sprogget technologies or churn out a sales pitch or put a mass of text and figures up on the PowerPoint and then READ them out loud (which usually involves facing AWAY from the audience).
But if you’re knowledgable, presentable and amusing, you’re likely to be invited to present (I personalty prefer the term “presenting” because “public speaking” – speaking in public – is something we learned to do from about the age of 3)
